Tamil Nadu
Culturally and historically affluent Tamil Nadu is undoubtedly the reflection of India’s cultural wealth. Occupying the South Eastern belt of the country, the state is a delight for pilgrims and travel enthusiasts alike. The state boasts of temples that date back to almost two millennia and that pretty much explains everything. Cities like Madurai, Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram and island situated Rameswaram are the usual haunts of the pilgrims
Kanyakumari is also one of the most visited places in Tamil Nadu. The state also flaunts its lush green forests that it borrows from the Western Ghats. Sprawling in a large area; these forests make the home to several wildlife species
Offering respite from the sweltering heat and noise are the hill stations like Ooty and Kodaikanal. Adorned with scenic landscape and salubrious climate, these hill stations are ideal for holiday in Tamil Nadu
The pristine and scenic beaches also make popular tourist places; the gorgeous sunrise and sunset views are certainly something not to give a miss. Taking one straight into the fast lane is Chennai, the capital city that is ornamented with skyscrapers, fancy hotels and restaurants, swanky lounges, pretty beaches and a good mix of both culture and traditions with modern living
BEST TIME TO VISIT TAMIL NADU
Tamil Nadu is a contradiction in many ways. The expansive state has breezy hill stations as well as bustling cities and it entirely depends on where you intend to travel, to understand the best time to visit Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu has three main seasons – summer, monsoon and winter. Here’s a season-wise look at which is the best time to travel to this Southern state.
Summer In Tamil Nadu
Summer begins in March and ends in May. The heat is oppressive especially in the cities and coastal areas where temperatures can go up to 40 °C easily. However, this is the best time to travel to hill stations as the weather is pleasant, breezy and enjoyable. Ooty, Kodaikanal and Yercaud are some of the hill stations where people head to beat the heat.
Monsoon In Tamil Nadu
The monsoon is from June till September. Although the temperature is slightly lower, it’s still quite hot and with the rains, the humidity goes up several notches. It’s not wise to visit the coastal areas or the hill stations during this time. The occasional cyclones along the Eastern seaboard can be dangerous.
Winter In Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu doesn’t really have a cold winter. Although it extends from October till February, there are intermittent rains in November and December. But the best time to visit Tamil Nadu is during the winter months, especially for sightseeing and exploring the cities. The beaches are lovely, and the water is not too cold. There are also several cultural events happening at this time in cities like Chennai, which makes it all the more attractive to visit.
